Jon Van Loo – Counsel

Jon Van Loo is a tax lawyer who focuses his practice on achieving the optimal tax result for his clients in a variety of transactions and situations. Jon has particular expertise advising on M&A transactions involving venture-backed technology companies.

Before joining Belcher, Smolen & Van Loo as a founding partner of the firm, Jon practiced in a wide variety of settings, including: the London headquarters of Linklaters, one of the world’s largest law firms; a prominent San Francisco tax boutique; and Dechert’s New York office, where his practice focused on private equity M&A and private investment funds.

Jon now limits his activities at BSV to advising on tax and executive compensation aspects of mergers & acquisitions.*
